Bernardo Oyarzún nació en Los Muermos, Región de Los Lagos, Chile, en 1963. Vive y trabaja en Santiago y Cabrero, Región del Biobío, Chile.
Artista visual, estudia en la Facultad de Artes de la Universidad de Chile entre 1982 y 1988 donde recibe el grado de Licenciado en Artes Plásticas con mención en grabado y pintura. Su obra ha estado vinculada al contexto popular, los espacios marginales, problemáticas que reflexionan acerca de la identidad, las raíces, el mundo indígena y, de manera crítica, su relación con la sociedad chilena contemporánea.
Ha participado en 12 bienales de arte, entre las que destacan Praga (2003), Valencia (2007), La Habana (2009). Ha realizado decenas de exposiciones individuales y residencias internacionales. Ha sido premiado con el Art Forum Competition, Harvard en 2008, el Premio Altazor en 2011, entre otros. Su obra está presente en más de 40 catálogos y libros de arte, y en las colecciones de DAROS Latinoamérica, BLANTON MUSEUM.

Visual artist, studied at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Chile between 1982 and 1988 where he received the degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts with a mention in engraving and painting. His work has been linked to the popular context, the marginal areas, problematic that reflects of the identity and roots of the indigenous world and, in a critical way, their relationship with the contemporary Chilean society.
He has participated in twelve art biennials, the most important are: Prague (2003), Valencia (2007), Havana (2009), among others. He has done dozens of individual exhibitions and international residences. He has been awarded the Art Forum Competition, Harvard in 2008, the Altazor Prize in 2011, among others. His work is presented in more than forty catalogs and art books. His works are also in the collections of DAROS Latin America, BLANTON MUSEUM, among others.
